CASE STUDY 1:

Country Garden | Kent

A complete rebuild and overhaul for an existing garden lighting system of a beautiful English country garden followed by further stages of expansions as sections of the gardens developed.  A pleasure and a privilege to work with such a beautiful and creative garden.

Project details

Objective: Illumination of paths, features, trees, bbq, outbuildings, gates, and even integrated lighting into new estate railings

Lighting:  Custom built on site & then copper plated lighting parts, custom built lighting from LightVisuals, recondition original Hunza luminaires & Louie Polson luminaires along with new luminaires from OriginalBTC & iGuzzini.

Control: Existing Light Symphony controls reprogrammed & the system expanded with well over 20x control units spread throughout the site to create many micro installations easily maintained & discreetly hidden. All operated by app, dusk-till-dawn timers & gate triggers for short periods while parking & passing through areas when lights are scheduled to be off.

Kitchen Project | Surrey

Kitchen to be replaced without lifting floor tiles or damage to walls while implementing an all new lighting design throughout the new kitchen

Project details

Objective: Illumination of glass backsplash, finger rails, island surface, side work surface, under cabinet, cabinet fronts (symmetrically) and introduce pendants to island and table areas.

Lighting: A mixture of John Cullen, Tala and Foscarini luminaries and the use of Soraa LED lamps allowing for various beam angle lenses to prefect the scheme.

Control: Rako modules at each location allowed via localised power supplies but wirelessly linked allowed for the illusion of a single circuit for plinth lighting and for finger rail lighting. Rako allowed for additional circuits within the ceiling, under unit lighting & within units. Scene selection at discreet wall plates can be tweaked in-app by the end user and occupancy sensors offer convenience of low level lighting when passing through at night without needing to turn anything on or off

Lounge Project | Surrey

Mission: Design a lighting concept to elevate the ambience for a lounge & enjoy it’s features. The room renovations required solutions to avoid new wiring in the walls minimising repair works. Supply, build & project manage all works bar the decorating.

Project details

Affect: Focused lighting accentuate the wall art & pillars. Uplighting of fireplace. Linear shadow gap illumination of original cornice. Illumination of central table. Multiple zone control for ease of scene control.

Lighting solutions: Creation of a dropped ceiling allowed for shadow lighting to illuminate the cornice & provide a space for control modules.  Soraa lamps with magnetic lenses allowed for narrow washes of light along the pillars without spilling to the sides. Various lens sizes allowed us to highlight each peace of art specifically. Glare control parts used on all luminaires to ensure a glare free environment, a must!

Control solutions: Rako modules allowed for separate power supplies to be used from the basement below for a lighting socket to service the clients existing standing lamp & for new accent lighting at the fireplace. Rako modules also allowed for separate power supply to be used from a bedroom above to service multiple circuits in, on & behind the new dropped ceiling.

Garden Lighting | Surrey

Rebuild an existing garden lighting system using Light Symphony lighting controls for a garden on a prestigious housing estate in Oxshott. Convert Halogen luminaires to LED. Incorporate new lighting to the landscaping project for a new fire pit & surrounding area.

Project details

Affect: Wash of lighting to the floor area between the pit & seating. Highlight the pleached trees behind the seating & re-light the large oak tree.

Lighting solutions: Small recessed floor wash lights reversed to light the upstaged to the seats & therefore creating an ambience of light glowing from the white rendered wall. The reversing technique is also a way of glare control. Well positioned spike spot lights highlight the trees & the clients existing large in-ground light was fitted into a suitably sized plant pot, semi-recessed behind the rendered wall a the back of the seating. This technique minimises the effects from burying fittings, stops ground cover building up over the light which smothers its output & aids any future maintenance allowing for a new lease of life to fittings like this one.

Control solutions: Light Symphony control units allowed for multiple power supplies from different sides of the house & from the garage. These micro installations minimise the impact from fault scenarios avoiding the loss of all lighting as common with basic conventional installations. New additional projects are easily added with this module concept.

CASE STUDY 5:

Self Build Home | Barnes Village

Mission: Lighting design for a London home with roof terrace, basement pool & garden. Requested that all be fairly subtle, automated control with some degree of flexibility as the home evolves in the years following completion.

Project details

Affect: Various, although a modern theme but not excessive.

Lighting solutions: Spot-lights rather than down-lights in many areas for flexibility. Soraa lamps with magnetic lenses for adaptability for wall arts of varying size & shape. Lighting sockets for plug-in lighting or as feeds for integral lighting where furniture might be fitted.

Control solutions: Rako system throughout the home. A wireless system was used across the 5 levels of the home with a signal repeating data linked spine to negate the floors. Particularly, Rako’s brass square wall switches had the closest match & theme with the boutique Forbes & Lomax sockets & fixtures throughout the home. The system integrates with Control4 which runs the audio visual system & the entrance system for the home implemented by our partners at Sphere Smart Home Solutions.

Showroom | Bramley

Mission: Design a lighting concept that’s simple but different with minimal impact to the existing space.

Project details

Affect: Focused lighting for each of four framed photographs. Dim to warm, matte white glass, pendent drop for coffee table and pin wall washing to flank a wall screen.

Lighting solutions: Custom built and then white powder coated conduit structure with precision bent arm drops with inset LED modules covered by black enamel couplers using male bushes to zoom focus the lighting of each of the framed photographs. This single structure provides cable routes and lighting in a one-stop-shop solution! While practical it is also intriguing.

Control solutions: Control4 modules offer feeds for the lighting installed.
